Big changes in the timetable to Tennessee!  Since my daughter's husband has been offered an increase and a lot more responsibility where he works, he won't be building the house, but having it "dry built" instead.  So, they won't be moving up there next Spring.  Also, because he's not building it, the design has changed somewhat.  But it's all good and I'm still virtually designing some of the landscaping and gardening.  There will still be a private garden and I have designed it like a courtyard.  Pictures from Facebook:

Tennessee, the beginning...

This picture was taken when we all (my daughter Darian, her husband Larry, and my husband Ralph, along with myself) went to Tennessee to see a property my daughter found on-line.  They had been looking and had travelled as far as Northern Ky. looking at land.

We all live in N.E. Florida and my daughter and her husb. had started talking about land, "back to the land" and building their own (with their own hands) dream home.  When she found this property, we all hopped in their truck and headed up there.

They, with a little help from us, bought it the next day.  Since then we have been up there several times a year.  Now have running water, electrical plug in for n RV, and have dug a pond..starting to fill with water.  Put up a decorative wood fence attached to the already installed gates.  Planted an orchard and some black walnuts and a few leland cypress trees.  Larry and his cousin along with their wives, built a 1 car garage size shed/pump house.  Baby steps towards building the house.

Now in Tn. 10/2011

Me and Bebe

This blog was started to record our family's (my daughter and her husband, Darian and Larry..my husband Ralph/Buster, and myself, Sheila) Tennessee adventure.  Two years ago my daughter and her husband bought 26 acres in NE Tenn., with our help.  Near the Cumberland Gap.  With highway 75 running North and South, you may be unfamiliar with the Gap (not the Gap in the mall!).  It's a very beautiful section of Tenn. geographically known as the Ridges and Valley section of the Appalachian's.

We've been up here (Tn.) since last Weds. (this trip).  Out at the property everyday..improvements (water, elec, sewage, set up RV/Trailer) mowing, mowing and mowing.  Bebe (my little rescue shizu/poo) came out of the trailer (temp. weekend camp while house building ensues) and ran to me, so I turned off the blades and gave her a ride.  She put her face in the wind and enjoyed!  She LOVES running on the land..we live in a condo in Florida.  This is such a treat for all of us.  After these improvements are all done, the house starts next March or April.

Back home tomorrow.  I'll miss the mowing..a mindless and pleasant, relaxing passtime..will link photos from this trip..more in depth blog about the property and more pics later..

On Facebook:  My daughter's status this morning...Good Morning! red sky in the morning, sailors take warning... Today we have a high of 82, tonight big storms and tomorrows high is 59. :/ eekk. Colder but should be beautiful again by tomorrow. Back out to property today to install the water pump. Wish us luck.
